£1 does amazing things Noah's Ark Children's Hospice

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice help babies, children, and young people with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, and their families, make the most of every day. And they support those who die young to do so in as much comfort as possible, surrounded by family.

They are here to enable those they support to enjoy life as children, rather than as patients, as families, not just as carers. Partnering with London NHS trusts, they have built a home, a community, and an expert team to make that difference. They are one of the UK’s leading children’s hospices, providing care for over 350 children and their families every year.

By playing the lottery you are helping Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice support children like Destiny-Rae.

A 'Rae' of Sunshine

Their support is carefully adapted for every child and is offered wherever it is required – whether in their home, their community or at their centre of excellence, The Ark, in North London. They have created a space where children who are seriously unwell are accepted as they are, safe to play, explore, express themselves and build confidence.

From creating and sharing sounds in music therapy, to holding the hands of parents during their child’s final moments, they believe in making every moment matter. They help children and families by focusing on what they can do, rather than on any perceived limitations. They provide specialist care and nursing for babies, children, and young people at The Ark, in the home or in a community setting.

They stand side by side with families as they face the unimaginable. They cannot change the diagnosis, but they can do everything to help them make the most of their time together.

Some of their services:

Family Link

When first introduced or referred to Noah’s Ark, each family is given a dedicated Family Link Worker, who will be their first point of contact. They will be a constant, reassuring presence throughout a family’s time with them, offering guidance, advocacy and moral support.

Family Activities

The Family Activities Team are in charge of fun! They publish quarterly diaries of events, including Children’s Groups, Sibling Groups, Parent/Carer Groups, and Family Parties. These activities are a great way to develop confidence and independence, to make friends and to build a whole community of support.

Therapies

They offer music therapy, drama and movement therapy, and Art Therapy, as well as sessional Occupational Therapy. These services help children and families to address individual physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs.

Home Support Volunteers

Their trained volunteers provide support for children and families in the home and within the local community. Their assistance could involve playing games, helping with homework, or carrying out practical tasks such as cleaning or gardening. They can also be an extra pair of hands, helping the whole family enjoy a day out together.
